Did I hear someone say they are not ready for the spirit of Christmas Yet? Buckle up! Santa, and the spirit of Christmas, is on its way. Here is a short video that will wet your appetite and eyes for the season.
Everyday in December, leading up to Christmas, Beaumont and others in the community do something special for the children who happen to be patients at the hospital just off the southwest corner of Woodward and Thirteen Mile Road in Royal Oak, Michigan. It is behind the new shopping center “Woodward Corners @ Beaumont”. I can personally attest if you go once you will want to return often during the holiday season. There also is a strong likelihood that you will return several times during the holiday season. Santa, and maybe even some elves, will return with great frequency.
This is an event that you can both participate in and enjoy. The first day of this years event was held on December 1st. As was the case in prior years, a large crowd of local residents showed up with flashlights wishing the children who are patients in the children’s ward, on the third floor, a joyous and Merry Christmas by shining flashlights from outside at ground level. The children respond by shining lights at the people standing outside in the courtyard.
Fire Engines from various stations throughout the area were present shining their lights and adding color and excitement for the kids. Rumor has it that on some evenings Santa may also appear and borrow a ladder from one of the firetrucks in order to climb up and wish the kids a Merry Christmas Christmas up close and personal.
